I’m not going to answer how it can be this close! You can read a lot of so-called “think pieces” in the Washington Post, New Yorker, etc., if you want to examine why the Democratic party has not connected with some working families who should be excited that a Harris administration will be their economic and individual freedoms champion. And that these voters seem unpersuaded by Trump’s unstable and criminal behavior! I simply accept that the polling is an accurate snapshot of the race, and that this is going to come down to the best get-out-the-vote/persuasion of infrequent voters operation.
That’s where we come in!
Here’s how York County, PA, voted in the 2020 General Election:
The PA Dems want us to head back to York this upcoming weekend. Let’s expand that blue dot! If you want to head up on your own, email me and I’ll give you the exact location in York or you can sign up here. Or take a bus to PA leaving from D.C. courtesy of the Democratic Party Saturday and Sunday. Or click on the button below and join a carpool for Kamala!
Two other quick reminders :
You can phonebank from home! This link is specifically for out-of-state volunteers! If you don’t want to do it on your own, send me an email. Maybe we’ll coordinate some pizza and phonebanking next week!
Or you can join the Woman's National Democratic Club on Winning Wednesdays to write and call voters. I hear the WNDC does have pizza!
Some tips if you’re headed to PA with a carpool, by bus, or on your own:
Pre-load the Minivan 9 app on your phone and make sure your phone is charged up! Gone are the days of paper maps and walk sheets! Every interaction is recorded by the minivan app so we need your phones near 100% battery power!
It is getting cooler, but make sure you have water and some snacks with you.
Layer! Bring that sweatshirt or jacket because the temperature fluctuates.
And have fun! Here’s a photo showing Jocelyn, Dennis, and Adam from last weekend!
But, you say, I don’t like knocking on doors! Yes, there’s a bit of uncertainty who might be behind the door, but that’s what makes it fun. You can ask PA voters why the race is so close in their state. And we’ve found some good bars and ice cream places in York to reward your efforts post-canvass!
It’s go time!
Elissa.
do people use mastodon? help me understand what vote challenge you are talking about.
Hi Elissa, Thanks for reaching out about these opportunities. I signed up for this Sunday (10/20) and have shared the invite with friends. About the upcoming election, I am really curious about your take on the ranked choice/open primary initiative. What are you thinking about that?
